Businesses are finding it more difficult to reach their audience just by using organic reach on Facebook. This is all due to the ever-changing Facebook algorithm.
The Facebook Algorithm
Facebook’s algorithm is what determines what you see in your feed. It sorts through your posts and figures out which ones you would like to see. You will see the more engaging posts higher up in your feed.
The algorithm determines your interest by your past interactions, what you currently have open, and what other people are doing.
In early 2018, Facebook revamped its algorithm and put more focus on posts from friends and family and less on posts from pages. This hurt a lot of businesses as their reach plummeted.
That being said, it doesn’t mean that your business shouldn’t be on Facebook. Facebook is still one of the top social media platforms and is a phenomenal way to promote your business. You just have to know how to ‘beat’ the algorithm.
Your goal as a business on Facebook should be to engage your audience in order to help your organic reach grow.
Here are 5 Tips for Increasing Your Organic Reach on Facebook
1. Create Relevant Content
First and foremost, your content needs to be relevant to your audience! Don’t post things just because. Know your audience, their likes, and their interests, and create content that will help them. The more relevant your content, the more engaged your audience, and the higher your organic reach.
2. Make Your Content Stand Out
Your posts should make your audience stop scrolling. It should be eye-catching and grab their attention. We love using Canva to create our Facebook posts because they give you premade templates!
Videos are an excellent way to tell a story while also engaging your audience. Live videos are the best type of videos to post to your page as they get the most organic reach. However, if you don’t want to go live, you can also post pre-recorded videos. Make sure to upload your videos directly to Facebook instead of sharing them from a link. The algorithm will rank native videos higher.
4. Post Relevant Memes
Memes are a great way to connect with a younger audience and get people to share your posts. Create and post memes that align with your usual content, but are fun or funny to your audience.
5. Interact in the Comments
By replying to comments, your followers feel cared about so they’re more likely to interact with your posts.
Not only are you showing that you care by replying to a comment, but you are making your audience come back to check your reply. That helps Facebook know that your audience is engaged.
